Bryan R. Tolar

Bryan R. Tolar is President of the Georgia Agribusiness Council, Inc., the State's broad based trade association for the entire food and fiber industry. The mission of the Georgia Agribusiness Council is to "advance the business of agriculture through economic development, environmental stewardship and education to improve the quality of life for all Georgians." Tolar works primarily in the legislative and regulatory arenas representing agricultural interests. Over 880 Georgia businesses are members of the Council ranging from family farming operations to retail farm suppliers and from grain elevators to wholesale produce distributors.

In addition to his public affairs responsibilities, Tolar is involved with 
AgriTrust of Georgia
, the Council's self-funded workers compensation insurance program. 

Tolar joined GAC in 1997 as the Member Services Representative serving GAC and AgriTrust of Georgia through promotion and participation in activities that represented member interest.  In 2001, he was named Director of Marketing, Education and Environmental Programs for the Council where he represented GAC on issues related to natural resources and the environment, increased agricultural literacy by coordinating GAC education programs, and developed marketing programs for GAC services.  In 2003, Tolar became the Vice President of Public Affairs where he has effectively represented GAC member interest in the public arena on all issues related to agribusinesses including regulatory and legislative matters. 

Tolar has served on several statewide groups related to water resource management issues. He served on the State Advisory Committee  during the devlopment of the Georgia Comprehensive Statewide Water Plan. Serves as a member of the Chattahoochee Basin Advisory Committee for the Metro North Georgia Water Planning District. He is a graduate of the Institute for Georgia Environmental Leadership (IGEL) program and serves as the Council liaison for the Georgia Crop Production Association Board of Directors and the Georgia Plant Food Educational Society Board of Directors. He is also past chairman of the Agricultural Economics Association of Georgia and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the .

Prior to joining the GAC, Tolar was employed by the Georgia Department of Agriculture Pesticide Division.  He is a 1992 graduate of the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences with a degree in Agribusiness.
